DC Arts Shows “Good Hope” for Anacostia

Anacostia–a neighborhood east of the river most known for crime, poverty and blight–rarely gets positive press. The DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities produced a video that reveals restored hope and the beginning of economic resurgence in the area. “New Voices” Does DC

The next generation of music industry royalty–Vanessa and Angela Simmons and Aaron and Anotonio Reid, Jr.–held auditions in DC to find the area’s top 10 artists for their New Voices talent search. The top 10 semi-finalists recently competed at the Water Club (formerly known as Zanzibar) for the chance to take on the Big Apple and perform for super producer Antonio Reid and Hip Hop icon, Rev Run. The winner will become the next big thing in music.

Kagan: Obama’s Supreme Pick (Video)

Monday, May 10, 2010, President Barack Obama nominated Solicitor General Elena Kagan to be the next judge for the Supreme Court. If confirmed, Kagan will be the fourth woman ever seated on the nation’s highest court and the second justice in 40 years that was not previously a judge.
