If America Had A Republican President

Imagine this: John McCain is our President. He defeated Barack Obama in the 2008 election, and headed to the White House with a laundry list of national issues to address: A recession, two wars, high unemployment, and that’s just on his first day in office.

Did Glenn Beck Disrespect the King Legacy?

On Saturday, the 47th anniversary of the famous “I Have A Dream” speech by Martin Luther King Jr, hundreds of thousands of people flocked to the Lincoln Memorial to watch Glenn Beck honor his memory. Beck, with help from Tea Party queen Sarah Palin, also paid tribute to American soldiers and their families, and called for America to turn back to God. The rally has drawn criticism from many, including civil rights activists who held their own rally commemorating Dr. King’s legacy nearby.

Saturday, August 28th is the 47th anniversary of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s historic march on Washington. This promises to be an “interesting” day in the Nation’s Capital as ideological opposites Glenn Beck and Rev. Al Sharpton hold political rallies in two separate locations.

Should The Ground Zero Mosque Be Built?

The plan to build a mosque near Ground Zero in New York was catapulted into the news again earlier this week when President Obama expressed his support for the building. Since then Republican’s have jumped on the President’s remarks, looking to use them against him and the Democrats in an election year. Shocking, right?

The Remedy

I have not heard anything really inspiring from either party. Many of the people who are in power in both chambers of Congress, Republican and Democrat, have been in office for other recessions and hard times. We have been pulled out of a mess like this before, but why can’t we seem to avoid it before it happens?

Did America Make the Right Choice?

If the President were to give that same speech today, would it still resonate with people? On election night the cameras caught people of all races, ages and genders in the crowd at Grant Park in Chicago. Tears were flowing, smiles were contagious, and watching from my television, I felt a true sense of positive change coming. I felt confident, because the person I voted for won, and I believed in him and what he planned to do.
