[The] 42nd Annual NAACP Awards in LA where they celebrated people of color in arts. The night went well with Halle Berry being recognized as best actress in a motion picture for her role in Frankie & Alice and Denzel Washington took best actor for The Book of Eli which was fab but what was even fab’er was Hip Hop won BIG!!I feel like a proud mama when Hip Hop does well at awards shows, when haters want to keep us from succeeding.

Congrats to my babies like Ice Cube who was named Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy for his role in the hit movie “Are We There Yet?”LL Cool J was also honored during the evening, snagging the Outstanding Actor in a Drama Series for his role in the TV series “NCIS: Los Angeles.”

John Legend and The Roots won two awards for Outstanding Collaboration and Outstanding Album for their release Wake Up!, while Aaron McGruder’s controversial cartoon “The Boondocks” won Outstanding Writing in a Comedy Series.
