Neither Nikki Giovanni nor her fans that packed the house, at Busboys and Poets‘ 5th & K location, were deterred by last night’s winter storm.  With standing room only, the literary activist mused on topics like healthcare, the economy, and the political process.  She also read a few poems from her latest book entitled, “The 100 Best African-American Poems“–a compilation of the works of classic and contemporary African American poets, selected personally by Giovanni.

Really mad that I was sick and missed Nikki Giovanni! Looked like a great event though.
