I’m sure we have all heard the phrase before that “Giving is better than receiving.” Even still, most of us do not realize the importance of giving. Our good actions give not only strength to ourselves, but they inspire good actions in others as well. The essence in generosity is self-sacrifice, and has a double meaning. The first is that someone else is benefiting from an act that you committed; the other is knowing that when you give, you are also teaching others to give. Giving comes from the heart. It is a genuine and selfless act. Therefore the more you give, the more you will have. A small gift is better than a promise. It is actually DOING, not SAYING or TRYING. You should only give what is within your means, and only because you want to, not because you think it’s what you should do. It is always better to give an inexpensive gift with a cheerful heart, than an expensive gift begrudgingly. In order to truly and wholeheartedly give, you must not expect anything in return. That is the ultimate sacrifice. But no sacrifice goes unnoticed or without spiritual reward. If you give the BEST that you have, the BEST will eventually come back to you. And that, my friends, is the Gift of GIVING.
