Neatly tucked away in Georgetown’s Cady’s Alley, L2 Lounge is one of the most exclusive lounges in the District. Elusive by design, L2 is not a place you’d stumble upon during a Georgetown bar crawl. It’s posh and it’s private. Membership begins at $1500 but on the weekends, the public can get a taste of the “good life” for $30. If you can’t fathom shelling out that much to get into a “lounge”, think again. The atmosphere alone is worth the cost of admission and the exotic cocktail menu is possibly the best in the city.
I recently visited L2 and was pleasantly surprised by Georgetown’s best kept secret. A social drinker, I asked the bartender to “make me something pretty”. She laughed and mixed up an Elderflower—a delicious blend of Plymouth gin, elderflower syrup, lime juice, and flower petals. The cocktail was so pretty I gazed at it a few moments before sipping. The sweet and sour flavors were harmonious. Perfect, even. Needless to say, if you’re a Jack and Coke type of guy or gal, the Elderflower may not be the drink for you. But, if you like things to look and taste “pretty”, add this drink to your cocktail bucket list and mark it off soon!
