Last Saturday, the ballroom at the Ritz Carlton Tyson’s Corner was filled with the bustle of hundreds people—mostly women—shopping for everything from the latest fashion trends to life insurance and gourmet delectable’s. Spirits were high and arms were adorned with a most welcome accessory: SHOPPING BAGS!
Although retail therapy is a weekend ritual for many women in the DMV, the POSH Couture Fashion and Accessory Showcase was a party with a much larger purpose. Jewell Green, wife of Pro Football Hall of Famer Darrell Green and founder of POSH Couture, was intent on utilizing her influence and platform to benefit others. Partial proceeds from the event benefited the National Football League Players Association’s pledge to “One Team 4 Haiti” through the Clinton-Bush Haiti Fund. Jewell also partnered with Caitlin’s Closet (an organization founded by New Orleans Saints Mark Brunell and his wife Stacey), to donate prom dresses to high school students.
Many of the District’s elite came out to support the cause. One of the highlights of the day was an NFL meet and greet with Pro-Football Hall of Famer Darrell Green, and Washington Redskins Derrick Dockery, Mike Williams, Justin Tryon, and former Redskins player Darryl Pounds. There was also a silent auction of sports memorabilia for fans and enthusiasts.
Jewell Green was undoubtedly the host with the most; greeting and welcoming everyone with a smile and genuine heart. Her husband, Darrell was an avid supporter of his wife’s effort. He even lent his vibrant personality as host of the raffle giveaways.
The POSH Couture event hit on all cylinders: fashion, passion and purpose! #POW!
